The modern world is full of colors, but the colors of our lives and all its facets we create ourselves. A new perspective in the creative reflection of objects of shoe design is demonstrated by the art exhibition "Shoes", which was opened on 6 March 2018 at the Gallery 153 (153 Nevsky prospect). Paintings presented in the exhibition belong to the brush of Oxana Barvinok.
The author is a well-known St. Petersburg businesswoman, acting here in a new role for herself. Painting is her passion, Oxana's professional education covers various areas: medicine, strategic marketing, economics, and health care management. Oxana Barvinok is a co-owner of EXPERT gastro-hepatocentre and a founder of the unique medical EXPERT Clinic in St. Petersburg.
Painting became for Oxana not only a new form of self-expression, but also an opportunity to aestheticize her passion. The court shoes, the design of which gave the author a reason to take up the brush, got a new life on her canvases – as objects of art, skillfully provoked by wardrobe items.
Utilitarian things, causing aesthetic pleasure, stimulated the author's imagination. According to the canons of fetish aesthetics, the irrational passion prompted creativity and the art of transfiguration: under the brush of the artist routine was poetized. Oxana managed to prove: shoes – the object of fetish and a symbol of enduring femininity – literally elevate a woman above everyday life.
Casual, evening, avant-garde, futuristic-shoes erect a woman on a pedestal and challenge her. Shoes change the plasticity of the body, the schedule of movement: transforming and fascinatng, provoking and ironic, shoes play the role of a litmus test, revealing the essence of character. But most importantly it stimulates imagination in that part of human relations, where monotony and boredom are contraindicated. Oxana Barvinok's exhibition dedicated to this ceremonial article of clothing pursues exactly the same goal.
The exhibition will be open throughout the spring. Later, the exhibition of selected paintings is planned in the recreational space of the EXPERT Clinic on the Petrogradsky district. It is noteworthy that this part of the city is associated with the spirit of the artistic avant-garde, and in this regard, the intention of the clinic is clear-to support the legend of the place.
